East Penn now utilizes DewEze Hydraulic Clutch Pump Kits on new car carriers, something they’d never explored previously.
East Penn Truck Equipment, Inc. has proudly served as a full-line Miller Industries towing equipment dealer for 25 years. As a family-run business, they have established a strong presence in the industry and foresee many more successful years ahead. John Oberly, President & CEO, said East Penn relies on DewEze under-the-hood kits for hydraulic needs in the towing industry and other commercial sectors. East Penn has been a DewEze customer since 1998, when they began as a Chevron Carrier & Wrecker dealer. As the towing industry evolved, so did East Penn. In 2007, Oberly acquired the Mercer operation, formerly known as Chevron East, which had been a DewEze dealer since the early 2000s. “We have been buying DewEze products for 25 years and it is the only under-hood hydraulic system we have used to date,” Oberly said.

Originally, they had some hesitation about using an under the hood clutch pump system on a new car carrier. East Penn previously utilized DewEze Clutch Pump Kits on several pre-owned medium-duty chassis that were converted into towing equipment. Oberly said these kits proved to be highly reliable and trouble-free, prompting them to contact DewEze to discuss options on other applications.
“We spoke to DewEze staff about our needs, along with our growing backlog of installations waiting,” Oberly shared. “With confidence, they stated that we would not be disappointed!”
Based on that assurance, East Penn put their faith in DewEze Hydraulics and decided to do a pilot program with a select group of vehicles. By the end of the pilot program, they knew DewEze Hydraulics was the answer to their car carrier backlog.
